Mother's Day Banners
Mother's Day - the special day where you show your love towards the mother of your family. This day is celebrated all around the world, mainly in the months of March and May. Most people buy flowers, chocolates and jewellery for their mothers to show their appreciation of everything their mother does for them and to honour motherhood.
Mother's Day - the history
Anna Jarvis, the daughter of an American social activist, created the idea of Mother's Day in the early 1900s. Her mother had been instrumental in organising women's groups to celebrate friendship and health. On 12th May 1907, Anna held a memorial service for her mother, in order to recognise her mother's achievements.
This day then became the origin of Mother's Day and within 5 years every state was observing this day. This caught the eye of the US President, who then made it an official holiday celebration in 1914. From then on it would be celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May.
