St David's Day Banners
A special day of celebration for the people of Wales is nearly here - happening on the 1st March. The day to celebrate the patron Saint of Wales, St David.
St David - the history
St David died in the year 589 on the 1st March and so the Welsh have celebrated it ever since.
Leeks, daffodils and vibrant traditional clothing are sure to be worn on this day in honour of St David. Leeks are an important symbol in remembrance of the battle against the Saxons.
It is believed that St David got his men to wear them so they had a better chance of defeating their opponents. St David's men won the battle and ever since then leeks have been a way to remember St David, the Patron of Wales.
